Something To Think About #1

So there are a few things on my mind today. Let's talk about them.
First and foremost, I start college in a few weeks! Awesome right? Yeah! Loans, and studying, and work, and barely any sleep....yay. It won't be so bad though. There are upsides to college like getting a degree, and learning things and all that. I'm excited about it despite the debt. Probably the thing I'm most excited about is meeting new people. I'd like to start a business one day, and who knows? Maybe I'll find my business partner in College.
Computer science is my major, with a minor in entrepreneurship. Why computer science? Well I've always liked math and finding solutions to problems. Computers are definitely something one needs to know about in today's world as well.
That brings up a question. What are we going to do when these things take over the world? You're laughing now. Saying, "Anthony, you silly goober, that's just movie stuff." Well just think about it. We're all already basically slaves to these machines. I mean, I'm sitting down typing away on this computer when I could be like....expanding my mind or something. And don't get me started on phones. I Probably spend hours a day looking at memes on insta. Think about that. It's crazy. The apocalypse has begun.
Another interesting point is that we make computers smarter for our convenience, but not working for things has made us a weaker society. My point here is that as we get weaker, computers get stronger.
Enough doomsday talk. Let's talk about something else that is on my mind.
DON'T LET YOUR CHILDREN WATCH YOUTUBE. And if you do, at least monitor who they're watching. First a little insight into YouTube (because my stats on insta show that there is at least one 65 year old reading my blogs...HOW? WHY?) So YouTube is like the entertainment wild west. You could put any type of content on there you want. There are a FEW restrictions. Like, you can't have nudity involved unless it's artistic or something like that. But for the most part it's no holds barred. This is actually a good thing, because it encourages free speech and stuff. YouTubers are the people on there making content. They are just like you and me. They just happen to make videos that thousands (sometimes millions) of people watch daily. They are all different though. All with different groups of people who watch their videos.
So essentially, you could think of YouTube as high school. YouTubers are the leaders of their own particular cliques. You have IDubzzz (leader of the "weird" kids), Pewdiepie (leader of the kids who like video games), The Game Theorists (leader of the kids who like math AND video games), etc.
How do these people make a living at this? Well, Mr./Mrs. 65 year old, I'll tell ya! It's called advertising. Companies see these people who fall into their niche. For Pewdiepie it would be like a company that manufactures gaming headphones. The company sees that Pewdiepie loves playing games, and that he has millions of people watching him. So the company pays him to advertise their products on his channel. It's that easy.
Sounds pretty great doesn't it? Well no. No it isn't. Because of the invasion of the Viners.......But that's all I have time to talk about today, so tune in tomorrow to get the second part of the story, byeeeee.
